Mount Washington Auto Road
(and Snow Coach)
Travel the historic (1861) 'Road to the Sky' for
remarkable views of the Presidential Range and beyond ~
sometimes to the Atlantic. In winter snow coach climbs
to the tree line.

Railroads
Historic Mount Washington Cog
Railway built in 1869 crawls up Mt. Washington at a
25 % gradient powered entirely by steam. Open year round
with Ski Train in winter.
Conway Scenic Railway's Valley Train runs spring
through foliage and the Polar Express. The Dinner Train
and Notch Train to Crawford Notch run mid-June to early
September.

The Great Scenic Outdoors
Fly Fishing is excellent in the
Ellis, Wildcat, and Saco Rivers. Fly Fishing Clinics
with private instruction available.
Scenic Moose and Wildlife Tours along the
Androscoggin River features historic and wildlife sites
and a stop at Northern Forest Heritage Park. Moose
sighting guaranteed. June - October.
Jackson Ski Touring Foundation
with one of the largest networks of XC ski and
snowshoeing trails in the US, offers trails for all
abilities, lessons, rentals, clinics, and races.
Black Mountain in Jackson offers 40 alpine trails
with a vertical drop of 1,100 feet. Slopeslide horseback
riding is offered in summer.
Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch (11 miles
north) has alpine skiing with 2,100 feet of vertical
drop and trails for all abilities. In summer the Scenic
Gondola ride takes you up to nature trails, picnic
areas, and spectacular views of Mt. Washington.
Nestlenook Farm Winter Recreation Park in Jackson
has ice skating, snowshoeing, and Austrian sleigh rides
in the group sleigh, romantic rumbleseat or a one horse
open sleigh.
Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center
(9 miles north) offers the Mt. Washington Snow Coach, XC
skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing in winter. In summer
enjoy an biking, hiking, hosted canoeing and kayaking
trips and an indoor climbing wall.
Attitash-Bear Peak in Bartlett (5 miles south)
offers alpine skiing in winter and an alpine slide,
water slide, mountain biking, chairlift ride, horseback
riding and skate park in summer.
Cranmore Ski Area in North Conway (8 miles) has
alpine skiing (including night skiing) and tubing.
Snowmobiling is available at several nearby
locations including L'il Man Snowmobiles in Barlett (5
miles).
Farm By the River in North Conway has carriage
rides in summer and sleigh rides in winter as well as
horseback riding year round.
Bretton Woods Mountain Resort offers alpine
skiing (including night skiing), XC skiing, tubing, etc.
in winter and golfing in summer.

is an 18 hole course across from the inn in the village.
Eagle Mountain Golf Course
is a 9 hole course in a mountain setting along the
Wildcat River in Jackson.
