FAQs About the Inn
The Inn at Ellis River is an award-winning bed and breakfast with 20 guest rooms and a rustic cottage for two, located alongside Ellis River at the edge of Jackson, New Hampshire. The Inn designed as a romantic getaway and special occasion destination.
Your stay includes afternoon refreshments and a full, hearty country breakfast for two each morning. Based on season, rates range from $165.00 to $359.00 per evening, plus 8.5% NH rooms and meals tax.

We operate the outdoor firepit from late Spring until early November. We will light it for you upon request until 9:00 PM. We ask that you do not create bonfire situations or remove any stones from around the pit. We ask that you do not place anything in the fire other than the logs provided.
- Check-in: 3:00 PM (please notify us if arriving after 9:00 PM)
- Check-out: 11:00 AM (late check-out until 12:00 PM subject to availability with advance notice)
- All reservations require a 50% deposit (minimum one night’s room and tax)
- Cancellations with at least 14 days’ notice: deposit refunded less $25 administrative fee per room
- Cancellations within 14 days: no refund unless the room can be rebooked for the entire stay period (at owner’s discretion)
- No-shows or early departures: deposit forfeited and charged for full reserved stay
Yes, a minimum two-night stay is required during most weekends and all of foliage season and from the day after Christmas through New Years. Peak/holiday dates including Columbus Day weekends, New Year’s Eve, and Presidents’ Day weekends may require a minimum three-night stay.
We accept Discover, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Traveler’s Checks, Cash, and Inn at Ellis River gift certificates. We also honor New England Inns and Resorts Association gift certificates for Inn charges, only (not for outside vendor services).
We do not accommodate more than 2 people in any guest room. We do not have roll-away beds or cots, and outside beds are not permitted.
No, guest rooms are located on three floors and the Inn does not have an elevator. We are happy to assist with luggage.
Six of our twenty-one guest rooms have mini-fridges. Most do not. We have a public fridge in the dining room that can be used (alcohol is prohibited in the pubic fridge)
Many rooms include:
- Wood-burning fireplaces (manufactured logs only), in many rooms
- Two-person jetted tubs with provided candle, in many rooms
- Balconies with scenic views, in many rooms
- Mini-fridge in some rooms
- All rooms have cable TV, DVD players, luxury linens, free WiFi, and air conditioning
The Inn is primarily designed as a romantic getaway and is not appropriate for children under twelve years old.
No, the inn cannot accommodate pets. We can provide information about local boarding facilities where pets can stay overnight and join you for daytime activities.
The Inn is smoke-free indoors. Smoking is permitted on outdoor grounds but not near doorways or windows. Any smoking odors entering guest rooms or buildings may result in a minimum $250 cleaning charge.
Yes, but only with the manufactured logs provided by the Inn (one log at a time). Real wood and other items are strictly prohibited for safety reasons. Non-compliance resulting in any damage, is a minimum $250 charge. Non-compliance regardless of damage, will result in a fee of at least $50 for extra cleaning.
Use only the candle provided by the Inn. Do not use personal products in the tubs. Non-compliance causing damage results in a minimum $250 charge.
A full, hearty country breakfast for two is included with your stay, served in our sunny dining room. We start with coffee/ tea, fresh fruit, homemade granola, yogurt and sweet breads. For the main course, we offer a sweet and a savory for you to choose from as well as a choice of our “famous” bacon or sausage and toast from bread homemade by a local bakery.
We have a breakfast sign-up sheet on our front desk each day. We generally begin at 8:00 AM and will have an 8:30, 9:00 and periodically a 9:30 seating as well. We ask our guests to sign-up for their time of choice each day for the following morning. We cannot accommodate everyone at the same time. (during slower seasons, we may begin at 8:30 AM)
There is a coffee and tea station available 24/7 in our dining room for your convenience. We offer a wide variety of coffees and teas. Some guest rooms come with a coffee maker.
There is a microwave in the dining room.
The Inn does have a small ice machine in the dining room. It is for general use such as to fill the room ice bucket or water bottles. It cannot be used for coolers.
Yes, we have a pub with a full liquor license. Hours are typically 3:00-9:00 PM Thursday-Saturday and 3:00-8:00 PM Sunday-Wednesday (subject to change at owners’ discretion). Personal alcohol must remain in guest rooms only and is prohibited in all common areas.
Due to staffing considerations, we currently offer limited housekeeping during your stay. We provide “in and out” service (trash removal, towel replacement, amenity restocking). Full room service is available upon request – please request the night before. All rooms receive thorough cleaning between guests.
