Lebkuchen Brownies with White Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients for Brownies:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon natural almond extract
- 1 ½ teaspoons grated orange rind
- 4 eggs
- 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
Ingredients for Frosting:
- 5 ½ ounces premium white chocolate chips
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ teaspoons grated orange rind
- 2 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar. Add honey, extract, and rind; beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together cocoa, spices, salt and flour and mix in thoroughly. Add nuts and spread batter into greased 9×13 pan. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees F. until set. When cool, spread with frosting. Frosting: melt chocolate in double boiler and cool slightly. Beat cream cheese and butter, then add rind, sugar and chocolate. Beat until smooth. Yield: 36.
